April 15, 2012 – AMA National Shasta Dam Grand Prix
It was a great race for Ross at Shasta, right up until it wasn’t. With a several minute lead through the third lap, Ross had the victory all but wrapped up. Near the end of lap 3, however, he wrecked hard and had the misfortune of landing on a tree stump and breaking his right femur. His day was done and the race was lost.
The next day surgeons put a rod in his leg and sent him home for recovery. The injury is a huge disappointment, as was losing the Shasta victory. This is made even worse by the fact that Ross’ championship defense at the Virginia City Grand Prix won’t be possible on April 28.
Ross is keeping his spirits high and plans to still attend the VCGP to meet fans and watch the race action. We hope you will look him up there, maybe sign his cast, and wish him a speedy recovery.
